Kindle Touch.

Jim and I both agree that the problem is probably where we got the Nook from rather than the Nook itself. We'll probably try again later--after we get a new computer. I'd like something that my computer actually recognizes.

Oh, and you don't have to worry about uploading MOBI files. I found software to convert the epub files you've been putting up.

Glad to hear you have something that works, but I know Walmart get Factory Seconds of alot of its items. Perhaps the problem. I know this to be true for Bullets, Outdoor Equiptment, and Housewares. They probably get factory second electronics as well, but I can't verify this directly.

BTW did you get the Kindle or the Kindle Touch?

You aren't far behind at all actually. Name of the Wind finished last week after push backs on the time schedules. Then Drisk requested a week break for free reading. I had alot on my plate so I didn't get Name of the Wind finished but am currently at chapter 69 which is the last break before through the end. Monday we are putting up Ender's Game. I will be sure to put up the mobi file for you since you have a kindle.

Sorry to hear the simple touch gave you so much headache. I haven't had a single problem with the either of the ones I own, but The new Kindle touch and the Nook Simple touch are basically the same hardware.

The Kindle Fire and Nook Color/Tablet would have been back lit like a computer screen and thus harder on your eyes, but the upside you can read in the dark. I really enjoy having an e-reader because it is alot like reading paper backs but much lighter and I can carry every book I want and more on it without it weighing a ton.

Name of the Wind is really repetitive till chapter 25. The book gets better after chapter 26 and people started to enjoy it alot more as it went on. I don't see what all the fuss is about personally, but that is me.

Hey. Unfortunately, the second Nook had the exact same problem. I was so annoyed, I went back to Walmart and exchanged it for a Kindle Touch. My computer actually recognizes it, so I could move the books that we were reading onto the Kindle, and while I do need to get somewhere with Wi-Fi to register it, I don't need to register it before I can actually USE it.

So I'm finally starting The Name of the Wind. Finally. What are you guys on now?

Yeah, sorry about being behind with the book club. I'm finding it more and more difficult to read on laptops these days. I'm constantly squinting and shifting my head around, trying to get around the "glare" in my eyes. I worried that the Nook and Kindle would be lit up like a computer screen and that it wouldn't make a difference, but they're not, so I'm anticipating that I'll finally be able to catch up to you guys.

Well, as much as I can. We might have another big thing on the horizon that's going to suck up all my time and energy working on it; we're checking it out this weekend. I'll keep ya posted.

Sorry to hear you had such bad luck. I have 2 nook simple touches, one for me and one for my wife. We have never had any of those problems. On the helpful side; your purchase of catching fire will be in you account on B&N and your new nook should download the book automatically once registered to that account. You can't delete things from the nook directly but have to go to B&N.com and sign in to manage the books.

Not having wifi at home is somewhat a blessing as it won't be able to send you free previews.

If you have any more problems or any questions about the Nook let me know. YOu know how to get ahold of me. I figured you were having problems staying current in the book club for your work schedule and a few reasons involving your computer. glad to see you will be able to join us this coming week.
